A hands-on half day (3-4+/- hours) railroad spike knife blacksmithing class in the Graber Forge shop focusing on the basic elements of forging steel. We'll discuss shop safety, equipment usage and basic metal-movement principles, before forging a knife from a railroad spike, while using a variety of blacksmithing techniques. There is no time limit to the class, we go until we finish. All tools, materials and safety equipment will be provided.The student(s) will leave with their own railroad spike knife that they forged during the class. In this class, I'll Forge a blade out first to show the student the ropes and then we'll Forge theirs, and I'll help them along the way if they need anything. I do all the grinding on the blade (normally while the student goes to lunch), and we go over sharpening when they return from lunch.

This is a class for one knife, but a pair of folks can work on a blade together (like a father and son).
